Who we are
We’re a UK based regulator with a strong, psychoanalytic focus and we’re also a professional community with charitable status that consists of practitioners, academics, organisations, trainees and a team of core staff. We are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority which means that our performance as a regulator is monitored on an annual basis.
As well as our regulatory role, we advance the knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically informed therapies in a range of policy-making arenas in the UK.
We also hold a series of events and platforms to debate about the role of psychoanalytic theory and thinking outside of the consulting room. Our Scholars community allow us to engage in the academic developments in this area and through events such as our annual ‘Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Now’ (PPNow) conference, and our termly magazine ‘New Associations‘ a publication that grapples with difficult and important topics that effect the psychotherapy world.
We’re a small regulator focused on the psychoanalytic approach. We work closely with our Member Institutions to understand the particularities of the psychoanalytic approach.
