Kathryn Townley
Child, Young Person and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Kathryn Townley
I am a Psychological Therapist with training in both psychodynamic psychotherapy and systemic psychotherapy. I am flexible and work with the individual needs of my clients who are children, young people, and families. This may involve play-based interventions, talking therapy, body-psychotherapy, mindfulness-based interventions, sand tray therapy, and groupwork.
I have experience in providing individual therapy for children in schools and parent-work in a CAMHS setting London. I now offer weekly private therapy to children and/or families in Sheffield and have experience working with a range of Special Educational needs.
I currently work as a Child and Family therapist for the Refugee Council and work with resettled refugees who have often experienced conflict, trauma, loss and forced migration before being resettled in South Yorkshire. My approach is systemic and client-led and I often work in schools or visit families in the home where we explore the emotional impact of trauma, forced migration and resettlement. I work with people from a range of cultural backgrounds and am experienced in working therapeutically with interpreters.
As was necessitated by the pandemic, I have adapted my practice to allow me to continue to work online where face-to-face sessions are not possible.
