Rob Walker
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Rob Walker
I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist working with Children, Families and Young People. My training was at the Tavistock and Portman Trust. This training equipped me to work from a psychodynamic approach with children and young people and to work systemically with families.
I am passionate about my work and building positive working relationships with the people I work with is at the centre of my approach. I prioritise creating a safe, containing space in my work with children and young people. By creating safety, we are able to build a space where individuals can safely explore their issues and gain an understanding of themselves.
I work with young people presenting a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, anger and emotional difficulties, and relationship and family difficulties.
I have several years' experience of working with young people who have experienced abuse and trauma, and I work from a trauma-informed perspective, incorporating mindfulness and body-based approaches to the psychodynamic approach.
I also have experience of working with families, incorporating systemic approaches to this work, helping families understand both the individual and relational aspect of their potential difficulties, while also considering the role and impact of wider systems, for instance the role of your family of origin, or the role of work or educational systems.
