Wanderley Santos
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Wanderley Santos
I am an online intercultural psychodynamic psychotherapist with over fifteen years of experience in the mental health sector. My focus is on addressing emotional difficulties and neurodiversity. Anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, lack of confidence, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, perfectionism, and self-sabotage are some of the issues I work with.
In my practice, I consider the intercultural aspects of each patient’s background, recognizing how race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, culture, nationality, disability, religion, and age can impact an individual’s well-being and mental health. I work with children, young people, and adults, and I also provide clinical supervision.
In addition to my private practice, I currently work as a counsellor at the Student Welfare and Support Service at the University of Oxford. I am a visiting lecturer in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London. Furthermore, I lead the In-Space, a supportive collective thinking environment for students at the Dutch Institute of Art (DAI) within ArtEZ University of the Arts.
I offer both long-term and short-term therapeutic processes and supervision services in English and Portuguese.
Training, qualifications & experience
After my degree in psychology and an MSc in clinical psychology in Brazil, my home country, I completed my retraining and requalification in the UK at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. I hold a master's degree in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, accredited by Essex University, and a qualification in intercultural psychodynamic psychotherapy. Additionally, I am requalified as a counsellor specializing in children and young people at Place2Be. I also possess a certificate in clinical supervision from the Guild of Psychotherapists.
I have extensive experience working with various emotional and mental health issues, as well as neurodiversity. Since I began my retraining in the UK, I have focused on helping individuals work through their mental health and well-being within the NHS, the public sector, and other organizations. I have extensive experience supporting higher education students, both in the UK and internationally, helping them navigate their unique challenges. I have experience teaching training courses for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK.
