Helen Hadden
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Helen Hadden
I am qualified and registered as a psychotherapist currently working with adults in the NHS and in private practice. I work with people who experience a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression or low mood, relationship worries, or traumatic experiences, offering two different approaches: psychodynamic psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Psychodynamic psychotherapy places a significant emphasis on exploring unconscious processes, such as repressed emotions and unresolved conflicts from childhood. A psychodynamic approach involves creating a safe, confidential, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore and process their thoughts and emotions. This approach facilitates insights into emotional distress, patterns of behaviour, self, perception, identity, and how we relate to others.
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a type of psychotherapy which can help with a range of mental health difficulties, and recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a treatment for PTSD.
I have undergone extensive training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust for many years. With over 16 years of experience in mental health, I continue to pursue learning and development through further training and the ongoing professional development required by the BPC to stay current and well-informed.
