Frankie Papadakis
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Frankie Papadakis
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with children, young people and families. I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I have a rich experience of working with schools and CAMHS.
My clinical practice is based on psychoanalytic thinking. I work with children and young people from 4 to 18 years with a range of issues from worries about self-esteem, issues with school or friendships, as well as difficulties within the family. I also work with parents either together or individually.
I have experience of working with children, young people and parents for a long-term periods. I work with children and young people who may have had have had complex and difficult starts in life. They may be coping with severe trauma, anxiety, depression or maybe eating disorders. I also work with children and young people who are facing shorter-term struggles who may benefit from a more time limited intervention.
For many young people, the work starts with a period of assessment to consider what needs to be thought about. For example, an autism or ADHD diagnosis, self-harm, school phobia or relationship difficulties.
I usually see young people once a week, and mainly face-to-face. I may see parents fortnightly or three weekly. My practice provides a safe space for children, young people or parents to express what is on their mind.
