About Christopher Gore
I have a keen interest in helping people understand current struggles in their lives associated to deprivation, neglect and abandonment in childhood. The defensive behaviours adopted to manage often include addictions, violence, criminality and sexualised use of the body of oneself and others.
I have spent many years exploring why the compulsion to repeat destructive behaviours is so difficult to stop. Even when one understands and even arrests certain behaviours an addictive state of mind persists and secretive behaviours sometimes still continue.
These behaviours are a way of trying to manage unprocessed feelings from traumatic experiences in infancy and childhood and are ultimately survival mechanisms. These terrifying states of mind can be modified and understood to a point via education and management programmes but can be chronic and may persist through life.
However, with Psychodynamic or Psychoanalytical work one can begin to think about and give meaning to these unprocessed painful feelings. The working through of these feelings enables one to mourn and live a more meaningful and connected life. I offer once or twice weekly therapy in a confidential and private setting in Woking, Surrey.
