Eileen Toibin
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
About Eileen Toibin
I regularly work with patients who present with depression, anxiety or relationship difficulties. I am especially interested in patients who present with an anxiety or fear that seems not to have an obvious cause. I have a long establish interest in creativity - the factors that promote or hinder the realisation of creative projects in the Arts. In recent years I frequently work with new mothers, this includes patients who are in treatment before they become pregnant and working with new mothers who present with post-partum concerns.
I spent nine years, working part-time, as a senior psychotherapist, in the NHS. (South Essex NHS partnership). This was in a Complex Needs Service, which dealt with borderline and psychotic patients. I had a responsibility for assessments. I also supervised trainee therapists, and trainee psychiatrists undertaking their psychotherapy training.
I spent eight years as a member of the ‘Difficult Patient Seminar’ (run by David Morgan) at the Portman Clinic.
I spent eight years as the Assessment Therapist for the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine. I have always maintained a private practice in addition to the above mentioned work. I qualified in 1996 and have been practicing since then.
