Last year I have become a school Governor for mental health and wellbeing. I joined a primary school who have two units for children who have autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and physical difficulties. After exploring with the head master and other governors the emotional impact that these children have on their parents, I offered the school one day, pro bono, where parents can come and see me and talk about themselves and not just someone's mum. I called the groups "Reflective space" and I run them every Monday. They have been welcome with enthusiasm. It is early days.
I am also participating in many webinars run by Governors for London, and I have taken plenty of exams (e-learning) on safeguarding, bullying and governing. I also read many books Like: Psychoanalysis and Paediatrics by F Dolto, Parenting without power struggle by Susan Stiffelman, "Peaceful Parent, Happy Siblings" by Dr. Laura Markam etc.
