Mauricio Alvarez

I'm a Chartered Clinical Psychologist by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS), with EuroPsy certification from the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) and specialist registration by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Wellbeing and Sport (BIG-register KP-specialisme).

I currently work in the National Health Service (NHS) providing a range of psychotherapeutic modalities for individuals, groups, and couples struggling with psychosexual difficulties. I also have a private practice where I provide therapy in English, Spanish, and Dutch. Throughout my clinical and research career, I've been interested in shame, attachment, and trauma, primarily among gender and sexual minorities (LGBTQIA+).

I work with a wide range of clients, however, most clients reach out to me when they are looking to work around relationships, low mood or anxiety, and difficulties in adjusting to change. Overall, my aim is to help my clients gain insight into their struggles and find different ways of thinking, feeling and relating to a range of areas of their lives and circumstances.
